Hi friend! Welcome to Watercolor Whimsy, a place (well a blog) where watercolorists and artists alike can come for break from reality. Artists of all kinds are welcome here; including newbies, pros, as well as the in-betweens. This is a safe space for us to grow together and experience whimsy and joy. Furthermore, on this blog I’ll talk about everything and anything watercolor related or whatever suits my fancy as I’m the one paying the bills here. Basically, this is the start of something new and exciting!

Introductions Are In Order

As in all new relationships, the first step is to make introductions. Thus, allow me to introduce myself.

Hi! I’m Kim, a 20-something-year-old living in South Texas trying to figure out life. Ever since I was little, I’ve always enjoyed art and crafts of all forms. As I got older and life got busier, creating art was unfortunately no longer a priority for me. It wasn’t until the pandemic that I was able to rekindle my love of art via watercolors and cheap gouache. I spent a lot of quarantine getting familiar with my first Da Vinci watercolor palette and as a result, I fell in love with the medium.

Four years later, I’ve decided to try and make my love of watercolors work as a career and document the journey. I’ve already tried to follow my dreams once to become a pastry chef (I have my degree but found out I’m allergic to flour). Although this is my second attempt at making my whims and dreams come to life, I’m putting doubt aside and I intend to give it my all!

Moving forward, I’ll be documenting every step I take so that I can see my growth and hopefully help others.
